on endchan they check if the filename of the thumbnail is "spoiler.png" and spoiler the image
you could try a similar workaround, but this isn't really a big issue so it isn't really worth it.

Yeah this site unfortunately doesn't even have that in the API, all it does is return the source filename and extension and from that you have to try to guess the thumbnail URL. You may notice that the thumbnail for sticky on /pol/'s also doesn't load for the same reason, because the thumbnail there for some reason is PNG while the source file is JPG.
